Description
Energy consumers – both households and businesses – are at the heart of the Energy Union and the EUSBSR PA Energy. The development of innovative and smart technologies in the energy field is stimulating the energy system’s transformation towards smarter, more flexible, more sustainable, secure and competitive ways of delivering energy to consumers. The changes in the energy system form steps that are being taken so as to be closer to the EU targets for post-2020. Smart technologies empower consumers, allowing the development of consumer demand response and stimulating the rise of new types of actors: prosumers. A prosumer is an entity such as a household, cooperative or local enterprise which produces and consumes energy (electricity, heating, cooling, etc.) at the same time. In addition, smart technologies have been around for some time now – but how well have they performed since they were first introduced a couple of years ago? What is the growth potential for them in the near future? What are the key challenges? The idea behind this seminar is to bring post-2020 smart energy technology developments closer to EUSBSR.
