Time:         13th June, 17.00 – 18.30
Venue:        Besucherzentrum 2

Description:

By looking at the future of shipping and energy sectors, and their spatial implications regarding maritime spatial planning, the seminar is addressing the ambition of HA Spatial Planning. Besides, the seminar deals with EUSBSR sector targets for shipping and energy and the objective of connecting the region.

Elaboration:

What is the coming future for the shipping and energy sectors of the Baltic Sea? - Unmanned ships? Larger vessels? More cruise tourism? Decarbonising of energy system? Global warming? And what about ports? - These are just few of the aspects to be thought of, when coordinating and planning a proper space for human uses of the sea area in the future, since a wide range of socio-economic, environmental, technological and political developments should be taken into account.

Participants of the seminar will be introduced to proposals for future scenarios of the shipping and energy sectors in relation to maritime spatial planning that are developed in frames of the Baltic LINes project (Coherent Linear Infrastructures in Baltic Maritime Spatial Plans).

During the seminar, participants will have the chance to play a strategy board-game “MSP Challenge” in which the proposed scenarios with the focus on shipping industry will be visualised. Thus, the participants will be able to test the possible scenarios and give their input and feedback, which will be used as a contribution to the work of Baltic LINes, when developing the future spatial planning solutions for the linear infrastructure of the Baltic Sea.

The seminar will make participants think in real future terms about the development of the whole region and share their competences and expertise for the benefit of ongoing work, which aims to contribute to achieving several important conditions set by EUSBSR.

The simulation game gives an opportunity to experience the complexity of different aspects, ranges, interactions, and influences regarding the future development of human activities in the Baltic Sea.

NB! The seminar will be able to host maximum of 40 participants and those interested therefore must make sure to be on time (“first come first served” arrangement will be applied).
