EUSBSR History

The objective of Policy Area (PA) ‘Ship’ was for the Baltic Sea region to become a model region for clean shipping.

The Baltic Sea being one of the most heavily trafficed and environmentally fragile seas in the world raised the need for countries in the region to act jointly to minimise ship-based pollution. Being first-movers in the transition to cleaner shipping was also recognized as a positive business opportunity boosting green and blue growth in the region.

PA Ship was coordinated by Denmark.
