Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme, together with the City of Hamburg, organised a programme conference in Hamburg on 20 October 2022 for the 2021-2027 programme. The conference was a starting point for the second round of funding applications for small and core projects.

Interreg Baltic Sea Region offers new funding to public and private players around the Baltic Sea who want to shape the region with their smart ideas. The Programme is structured along with four priorities: Innovative societies, water-smart societies, climate-neutral societies, and cooperation governance.

The deadline for submitting idea forms for small projects is 5 January 2023. By this date, the first idea paper has to be sent to the Interreg secretariat. After the idea form, the final application is due on 26 January. For core projects, the first deadline is on 14 February and the final application is to be submitted by 14 March 2023.

Programme conference is a gateway to Interreg know-how

The conference in Hamburg was a real get-together. In addition to the Interreg secretariat, one could meet Policy Area Coordinators of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, and the Interreg monitoring committee, responsible for evaluating the applications. The conference programme zoomed on the four focus areas of the 2021—2027 programme, and the possibilities this funding mechanism provides for future projects.

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg was a natural choice for the programme conference. Hamburg is one of the two host cities for the newly established Baltic Sea Strategy Point (BSP), which provides administrative and technical support for EUSBSR management, development, and communication.
