Project Platform SuMaNu - Sustainable manure and nutrient management for reduction of nutrient loss in the BSR

The project aimed at an environmentally and economically more sustainable manure management in the BSR:

• More holistic recommendations on best practices for farmers, advisors etc.
• More holistic policy recommendations
• Supporting together with BSR Water platform the process of developing the HELCOM Nutrient Recycling Strategy

The project analysed and synthesized approaches to sustainable manure and nutrient management promoted by four international projects. These are Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects Baltic Slurry Acidification and Manure Standards, Interreg Central Baltic project GreenAgri and BONUS Programme project BONUS PROMISE.

The project has produced policy recommendations for more sustainable manure and nutrient management in the Baltic Sea region focusing on farm and system-level changes and knowledge transfer.
